Barry Kent Morrison of Statesville died on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House.

Mr. Morrison was born in Iredell County on November 23, 1951 and was the son of the late O.B. Morrison and Carrie Hartness Morrison Brawley. On October 20, 2016 he was married to Pamela Fulbright Morrison.

He was a graduate of North Iredell High School and prior to retirement, Mr. Morrison was employed as a project manager with Lee Construction. Barry was a member of the VFW Post 2031.

Barry was a star athlete at North Iredell High School, playing basketball and he lettered in baseball and football and he had a passion for playing golf.

Barry attended Bristol Drive Baptist Church and Western Avenue Baptist Church while his health would allow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Campbell and Linda Marie Morrison (infant) and mother-in-law Minnie Fulbright.

Along with his wife Pam Morrison, he is survived by five brothers, Albert Morrison (Ruby), Wayne Morrison (Joann), Gale Morrison (Elaine), Joe Morrison (Karan), all of Statesville and Norman Morrison (Maria) of Malborne FL along with two sisters, Imogene Stroud (Jim) of Harmony and Marlene Morrison of Statesville. She was also survived by one brother-in-law, Charles Campbell and host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Barry Morrison will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday, October 22 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Andy Lackey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.

The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the staff of Gordon Hospice House along with the VFW Post 2013. Also, a very special thanks to Dr. Ruby Grimm and her very caring staff for taking care of Barry during this illness.
