Native Purcell Resident, Ricky Joe Thompson, age 62 of Tuttle, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Integris Baptist Medical Center. Ricky was born January 9, 1956 in Purcell, OK, the younger of 2 children born to Joe Bob Thompson and Peggy Lou (Bratcher) Thompson. Ricky grew up in Purcell and attended Purcell schools. Ricky married his first wife, Karen, at a very tender age and of their young marriage the first three of Ricky’s children were born. Soon after his divorce, Ricky met and quickly fell head over hills for the love of his life, Patricia Irene Appleton. Ricky and Patricia wed on Ricky’s birthday in 1982 and of their marriage they had six more children. They first made their home in Okla. City, later settling in the Bridge Creek area. Throughout his life, Ricky worked various odd jobs. He was really a jack of all trades, and dabbled mainly in carpentry and general construction. He was a man of great faith and a licensed minister. One his proudest moments was the honor of officiating his grandson’s wedding. For the last several years, Ricky’s ministry has focused on substance abuse recovery and he has poured his soul into his C.A.S.A. Recovery Ministry.

One of Ricky’s greatest passions was sharing his unlimited knowledge and undying love of game chickens with his children. Understanding their lineage and bloodlines, he and his sons have raised many champions throughout his life. However, Ricky’s greatest accomplishment along with both mothers of his children, was giving all their kids the gift of how to blend into a big family with a lot of forgiveness and unconditional love.

He was a wonderful husband and father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by:
