LONGVIEW — Mary Charlene Alexander Carver was born on January 8, 1953 in Swindon, England to Charles Wade and Charlotte Ann Green Alexander. This little Air Force family moved many times-back to the United States where her brother John was born, then Back to England again. They lived in California, Massachusetts and Oklahoma. When her dad retired from the Air Force, they settled in Columbus, Ohio. She had three children, Jonna, Joshua and Jessica. Eventually the family ended up in Portsmouth, Ohio and Mary met Herb Carver. They moved to Longview in 1981 when Herb got a job at LeTourneau. She went to work at a little place called Thirsty’s in 1993- this place eventually became The Memphis. Miss Mary worked here for 25 years, eventually becoming part owner along with Staci Procell. Over the years, this fabulous, sassy, outspoken lady made many friends through her job. We were overwhelmed by the turnout for her retirement party in April!
Miss Mary passed away on Saturday October 13th. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Herb and daughter Jessica. She is survived by daughter Jonna Goodan and daughter in law Jennifer Radke, son Joshua Carver, daughter in law Tracy Carver and step daughter Sandra Carver Davidson. Granddaughters Natalie Goodan and Bodhi Stauss, Hailey Raye Carver and Jared Baxter, Jessica Watkins and Lacie Rutherford, Grandson Nicholas Goodan and one great grandson, Lincoln Carver and ex husband James Langston.
She was done fighting cancer and was ready to be free. We will miss her more than we can put in to words. Along with all the good memories, she wanted to leave these words for us-

“When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me - but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss Me - But Let me Go!”
