Mrs. Lisa Taylor Rowe Chapman, age 53, a resident of Wilmington, NC and a former resident of Blounts Creek, NC died peacefully Friday, March 31, 2017 with her family by her side at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC  after a life long battle with diabetes, MS, and leukemia. Lisa was born in Beaufort County on September 16, 1963 to Jack and Virginia Taylor Rowe. She attended school in Washington Park and graduated from Chocowinity High school, class of 1981 with honors. She attended Mount Olive College in Mount Olive, NC and was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC. Lisa excelled academically in both high school and college and enjoyed cheerleading. After college she worked briefly for Beaufort County Department of Social Services, and later for Pitt County Department of Social Services as a child protective services social worker until her early retirement due to health reasons. She married the love of her life Jeffrey Chapman on May 13, 2007 . Lisa had an infectious smile and never complained about the cards life dealt her and had a strong faith in God and that He would see her through, whatever came her way. Lisa's hobbies included stain glass, antiquing, concerts, and had a love for historic homes, especially Victorian architecture. She loved to travel and especially loved Savannah, GA and named her daughter after the city of Savannah. She also loved visiting Biltmore Estate. Lisa was predeceased by her grandparents whom she adored, Ralph Armstead Taylor and Mildred T. Taylor. She was also predeceased by her father in-law, James W. Chapman. Survivors in addition to her husband and parents are one daughter Savannah Everett and friend Misha , three step daughters, Ashley Perkins, Caitlan and Brook Chapman, all of Chocowinity, NC, mother in-law, Sherry Chapman of Richwood,West VA, sister in law, Jennifer Chapman Nottingham of Champaign, IL and life-long friends, Tina Beavers Strong of Cary, NC, and Greg Purser of Washington, NC. A celebration of Lisa's life will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, April 7, 2017 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Pastor David Linton officiating. Special music will be provided by Roy Lewis. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Hillside Funeral Service. A private interment will be held at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, NC. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Lisa's neighbor, special friend and caregiver George Williams. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be directed the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 612 Pasteur Drive, Greensboro, NC 27403 or the American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh, NC 27607.
