Eldon K. Johnson, age 69, longtime Wellington resident, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. He retired after 43 years of service as a brakeman/conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

Eldon was born on September 11, 1949 in Wichita, KS to Alvin Richard Johnson, Sr. and Waunetta Marie (Cooper) Johnson. He was raised in Wellington by his grandparents, C. W. and Letha Nuttle. He graduated from WHS with the Class of 1967.

He married Diana S. Anderson on August 24, 1968 in Wellington, KS.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, hunting, and outdoor cooking for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, and his beloved uncle, Arlen Cooper.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Diana Johnson of Wellington; four children, Tim Johnson of Wellington, Christopher Johnson of Wellington, Tyson Johnson of Wellington, and Darla Coffman and her husband David of Clay Center, KS; brother, Alvin Richard Johnson, Jr. and his wife Jean of Tulsa, OK; aunt, Judy Cooper of Warsaw, MO; mother-in-law, Letha Anderson of Wellington; nine grandchildren, Bobby Stefani, Tyler Johnson, Trystan Johnson, Trent Johnson, Scarlet Johnson, Cooper Coffman, Spencer Coffman, Anderson Coffman, Miller Coffman; one great grandchild, Seriah Stefani; two nephews, Steven Johnson and Brian Johnson and his wife Tresa; several great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life was held at the Raymond Frye building on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Roger Lee officiated.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place in accordance with Eldon’s wishes.

Memorials have been established in Eldon’s memory with Kansas Hunter Safety or Kansas Youth Pheasant and Quail Forever in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
