Richard Anson Wilkins, 78, of Cypress Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2018.

Richard was born in Whitney, Texas to Ed and Ozelle Wilkins on January 27, 1940.  He told stories of having lived all over the US while growing up in an Army family.  Most memorable were Hawaii and New York City.  His family ended up back in the great state of Texas where he graduated from New Braunfels High School.  After High School, Richard attended the University Of Texas before deciding to enlist in the United States Navy.  He served 4 years in the Navy and 3 years in the Army Reserve.  During his time in the Navy he met the love of his life, Patricia Ilene House.  They were married on August 8, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas.  They were married 54 years, always acting like newlyweds and teaching others that true love does exist.  Together they raised their 2 children, Michael and Leah in San Antonio and then settling in Katy, Texas.  They were “parents” to many teenagers who to this day still call them Mom and Dad.

In 1965, Richard chose his lifelong profession as an Auctioneer.  He loved what he did, and over the course of his 45 year career he sold just about everything.  Most of his career was spent in the Automobile Industry, selling everything from Antique Collectibles, luxury cars, rental cars, and factory cars to name a few.  He was a professional, a mentor, and respected by so many.  His fellow auctioneers became his extended family.  Richard was also a Storyteller like no other.  If you know Richard Wilkins you know he loved to talk, tell jokes and share his stories.  You might even have heard a few more than once.  Richard will be missed by many but mostly by his family.  Family gatherings will never be the same.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother, Golda Ozelle Wilkins and his father, Ed Delta Wilkins.

Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Ilene Wilkins: his son, Michael Wilkins and wife Melissa Wilkins, his daughter, Leah Shepard and husband Paul Shepard:  grandchildren:  Kaelyn, Ethan, Hayley, Zoe, and Zach

The family will hold a private graveside service in Magnolia, Texas.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Star of Hope at sohmission.org
