Mildred was born in Congress, Ohio on November 6, 1923 to the late Walter and Esther (Fox) Howman. She was a 1941 graduate of Nova High School and had been a resident of the Nova-Sullivan area for many years before moving to Ashland.
Mildred was not only a loving and caring mother to her children, she was also a loving and devoted wife helping her husband Lloyd on the family farm while keeping the household going.
She was a member of the Homerville Grace Brethren Church, the Senior Sunday School Class and had served on the church board and had been a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Nova Lions Club, Nova Community Club and a member of the Ashland County Farm Bureau Council.
On June 7, 1942 Mildred married Lloyd E. Carpenter, a union that would last for 73 years before Lloyd passed away on August 23, 2015.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Edward) Newell of Dowagic, MI; Roger (Patricia) Carpenter of Nova; Louise (Gary) Leiendecker of Canal Fulton and Eileen (Jesse) Raubenolt of Ashland; 8 grandchildren, Dean (Linda) Newell, Adam Newell, Carter (Michelle) Newell, Sarah (Aaron) Sturbaum, Jonathan Leiendecker, David (Laura) Leiendecker, Benjamin Raubenolt and Nathan (Heather) Raubenolt; 9 Great grandchildren; a brother & sister-in-law, Edwin (Mary) Carpenter and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd E. Carpenter, a sister, Pauline Phillips and three brothers, Wayne, Carl and Robert Howman.
