The daughter of Mary Elizabeth Fansler Stump and James Lewis Stump, she was reared on a farm in the Oklahoma Panhandle, married a rancher and worked alongside him in raising their family. She was united in marriage to Oda Sutton on Jan. 24, 1925. To their union were born six children. She was active in church music and teaching. In the 1950's, she established a restaurant in Dumas, Texas, and later retired to Albuquerque, New Mexico. On May 19, 1962, she married Ralph Tidwell and he passed away July 19, 1979.
She is survived by her six children: Clophas Sutton of Dallas, Texas; Genevieve Reedy of Denton, Texas; Della Richards of Albuquerque; Mames Sutton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Betty Tomlinson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Bonny Hays of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Buford Stump of Hardesty, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchldren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, seven sisters, Evolena Woolridge, Louise Wilson, Jessie Ruth, Mildred Littleton, Helen Ethan, Thelma Elliott, and Alice May; and three brothers, Elmer Stump, Wayne Stump, and Harmon Stump.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel with Dr. Chris Sutton and Rev. James O. Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.
