MARION DALE ROGERS
2 Aug 1952 ~ 29 Aug 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Marion “Dale” Rogers announces his passing after a brief illness, on Wednesday, 29 Aug 2018, at the age of 66 years.

Dale, in his early years, wore pointy toed cowboy boots, pearl snapped shirts and bell bottom Levi jeans. He was a lover of old country music, God, Softball and his family. A native of Trenton, FL, Dale spent over forty years in the meat industry and could do everything from butchering a whole cow to buying and selling at the corporate level. When he retired in 2016, after a miraculous recovery from brain surgery, he dived into something he had always enjoyed – youth travel team sports. At the time of his death Dale was serving as a director with Global Sports Authority out of Legion Field in Austell, GA where he spent time the last two years every chance he got hosting tournaments.

He loved to see his kids be successful and often told them how proud he was of them. He valued his kids more than life itself and he has missed his own parents beyond measure. Second to the love he felt for his family was the love he had for his Florida Gators. He has a front row seat at every game now, right on the 50-yard line if he wants it! The year Dale’s father, Austin, died the Gators won the national championship. Dale’s children have let him know they expect him to do the same and that he was going to have his work cut out for him because the Gators haven’t been looking too great lately.

Dale will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Linda (nee Phillips) and his six children Doug (Tara), Jodi Turner, Candy (Austin) McCaghren, Mandy (Tabi) Robinson, Christina (Roy) Patterson and Brittony Wilson; and by his six grandchildren Allie, D.J., Kelsie, Cody, Charlie and Amanda. Dale will also be fondly remembered by his brothers Lionel (Charlotte) and Billy, and his mother-in-law Betty Phillips. Dale will also be forever remembered by his nephews, numerous cousins, extended family and dear friends. Dale was predeceased by his parents Austin and Laura (nee Hardee) and his father-in-law Joe Phillips.

A Memorial Service for Dale will be held on Saturday, 1 Sep 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at West Metro Church of Christ, 4550 Hiram Sudie Road, Hiram, GA followed by a Celebration of Dale’s life at 7:00 p.m. at Legion Field, Austell Powder Springs Road, Austell, GA. In honor of opening weekend and Dale’s favorite team, please wear Florida Gator colors (blue and orange).

The family would like to hear some of your favorite “Dale Rogers” stories during the Celebration of Life, so please feel free to share.
