Frances "Louise" Cox, age 84, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died peacefully at Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in the arms of her daughter, Kimberly L. Dacier and son-in-law Paul T. Dacier on Sunday, October 14, 2018.
Louise was born in Loris, South Carolina on July 31, 1934, and lived there until her marriage to John F. Cox. Soon thereafter, they relocated to Newport News, Virginia for John's new job at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. There they raised their three children, Johnnie, Glen and Kimberly. For many years, Louise served as the Payroll Manager for the Newport News Police Department until her retirement in 1991. She was also very active in her church. Upon retirement, Louise and John moved back to Loris, South Carolina to be with family and old friends.
Louise was lovingly nicknamed "Gma." She always had a beautiful smile on her face and greeted everyone with a "hello darling." She was loving and kind to all. Her loss is heartbreaking to her family and friends. The family would like to acknowledge the love, care and compassion given to Louise from the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home and Brookhaven Hospice as she battled the devastating effects of vascular dementia during the past several years.
Louise was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John F. Cox, as well as her eldest son, Johnnie R. Cox.
Survivors include her son, Glen T. Cox and wife Beverly, of Williamsburg, Virginia and her daughter Kimberly L. Dacier and husband, Paul of Sherborn, Massachusetts.
She was the proud and loving grandmother of Jessica M. Rogan and her husband James of Medfield, Massachusetts; Brittany M. Dacier and her husband Garrett Wingrove of Worcester, Massachusetts; John P. T. Dacier of Fort Benning, Georgia; Nicole M. Crumpler and her husband John of Newport News, Virginia; Jeffrey Cox and his wife Michelle of York County, Virginia; 9 great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Adelle and James Rogan; Nicholas, Cameron, and Caleb Crumpler; John, Madison and Savannah Cox.
A celebration of Louise's life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. from the Loris Chapel at the Goldfinch Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
