PALM SPRINGS — Joseph Henry Sharp, III died October 10, 2018 in Brownsville, Texas at the age of 57. He was born August 10, 1961 in Tyler, Texas. He is survived by his parents Brenda Castloo Sharp and Joe H. Sharp, Jr. , sister Lesley Sharp, and cousin John Edge and wife Felicia Edge, and their sons Lucky and Tomas. He is also survived by his aunt Martha Sharp Neill and her husband Harold Neill, cousins Ellen Neill, Hank Neill, Perry Neill, Matthew Neill, Andrew Neill, and many more cousins.
During his life, Joseph lived in Los Angeles, New York City, Santa Fe, Dallas, Roanoke, Virginia, and Palm Springs, California. He and his family shared many meals together at the great restaurants in these cities. Joseph graduated from Jacksonville High School, and received his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of Southern California and his Masters of Fine Arts degree from Vermont College of Fine Art.
Joseph was a writer by profession. He wrote “Living Our Dying” which was printed in five languages , “Spiritual Maturity” and “Quitting Crystal Meth”. Joseph spoke at the National Cathedral in Washington, D. C. about his work with AIDS patients. During the early part of his life, he organized and was the minister of a non-denominational church on Greenville Avenue in Dallas. He was in the Chaplains’ Intern Program at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. In the last years of Joseph’s life, he helped those suffering from addiction to crystal meth. Joseph was a kind and loving person, and he will be missed.
On Saturday, October 20, 2018 the family of Joseph Sharp, III will receive friends at 3:00 PM and a celebration of life will follow at 4:00 PM at Beaty Funeral Home, 5320 Hwy 37, Mineola, Texas 75773.
