Tom McNeil, 89, died Thursday, October 11, 2018 from complications after a fall. Born January 11, 1929 in California, where he graduated from Whitworth College and San Francisco Seminary, and was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church, USA. He returned to San Francisco Theological Seminary as a Teaching Fellow. From '63-'94 he resided in Puerto Rico where he was Professor and Chair of the Department of Religion and Philosophy at the Inter-American University.
He met and married Nilsa Lutz becoming father to her sons, Richard and Warren. While in Puerto Rico, he earned a Masters and Doctoral degree, becoming a scholar of the Historical Jesus Seminar. Retiring in 1997, he and Nilsa moved to Ocala to be closer to their sons and grandchildren. Tom became beloved as a teacher at Ft. King Presbyterian Church and especially in his role of Pastor of Visitation.
A memorial service will be held at Ft. King Presbyterian Church, 13 NE 36th Ave., on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
