Max Donald Jones, 88, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Fair Haven Home in Bostic.

Sharon Hawkins and husband Ronald of Ellenboro, NC, Renee Wright and husband David of Ellenboro, NC, and Don Jones of Ellenboro, NC.

Born Aug. 12, 1930, in Cleveland County, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Cossie Flay Jones and Etta Lee McDaniel Jones Wright and was preceded in death by his wives, Betty Whiteside Jones Clontz and Avis Hipps Thompson Jones, a daughter, Kim Jones, a grandson, Shane Chapman, two brothers, Harold Jones and Tommy Wright, and a sister, Newell Jones Vess.

Mr. Jones retired from NCDOT-Cleveland County with over 30 years of service. Max was a founding member of the Sandy Run Coon Club and spent many nights in the woods hunting. He enjoyed his farm, especially fishing in his pond. Max was an avid NASCAR and Atlanta Braves fan. He loved singing and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed operating heavy equipment, especially his motor grader. Max was a member of Drury Dobbins Baptist Church and Hollis Masonic Lodge #535 A.F. & A.M.
