The following is a letter to the Southwest Daily Times newspaper written by Margie Rogers, a fellow teacher and friend of Elaine. The letter was written a few weeks after Elaine's death.
Last month the city of Liberal lost a 'gem' of a lady, Elaine Nix.
I knew Elaine as a teacher and dear friend for more than 30 years. I was blessed to teach with her at Washington and McKinley schools from 1975 until she retired. I am also very thankful that she taught my son Jim in Kindergarten and second grade. What a strong foundation she gave him and every other student she taught. I respected her greatly for not only her skillful teaching and her love for children, but for the Christian example she set for her life.
