Anna was born on May 29, 1844 in Germany, daughter of Michael Weins (1773 - ) and Anna Margretha Stark (1810-1891). Anna emigrated to America with her mother and brother in 1857. She had at least one sibling, Nicholas Weins (1828-1863).

Anna married Matthias Adams in 1860 in Grant County, Wisconsin. They settled in Beetown and had 12 children: Fr. Henricus (1862-1905); John P. (1864-1881); Sr. Marianne (1866-1947); Sr. Gertrude (1869-1925); Sr. Mary Edwina (1872-1937); Fr. Franciscus (1874-1917); Mary M. Auel (1876-1961); Andrew (1879-1881); Nicholas S. (1881-1957); Clara A. (1882-1884); Sr. Mary Bernadette (1885-1914); and Sr. Mary Emanuel (1887-1966).

Anna Adams lived long enough to see seven of her nine adult children dedicate their lives to God and take their vows to serve the Catholic Church, a quite extraordinary religious commitment from a single family.

Anna died on Dec. 5, 1923 in Lancaster, and is buried in Wissbaum Pigeon Creek Cemetery in South Lancaster Township, Wisconsin.
