Benny W. Tanner, 82, of Lorimor, IA passed away peacefully Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, IA.
Per his wishes, his body will be cremated and no service will be held. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Carroll City Cemetery, Carroll, IA. Benny Warren Tanner was born April 23, 1936, in Grapevine, TX, the son of J.W. and Eunice (Ferguson) Tanner. He graduated from Grapevine High School in 1954, excelling in singing and baseball. He enjoyed working with his daughters showing quarter horses, camping, cutting firewood and the Iowa State Fair.
On May 22, 1987, he was united in marriage to Trish Steinbach at the Lidderdale Catholic Church in Lidderdale, IA. Benny will be missed by many family and friends that he knew throughout his life, from his career with Firestone, Bauer Built Tire, selling real estate in Spooner, WI, and owning and operating businesses in Lidderdale, Breda, Westside and Manning until his retirement. His working years could be summed up with the word, entrepreneur.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Trish of Lorimor, IA; daughters, Shelby (Bob) Harris of Eagleville, MO and Shannon (Ibrahim) Tanner of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Dallas and Hailey; a niece, Tracy Witt of Haslet, TX; cousins and many high school friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Eunice Tanner; brother, Buddy Tanner; parents-in-law, Delbert and Jean Steinbach; brother-in-law, Andy Steinbach; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Audrey (Vincent) Kuhlman.
