Edward Rivera Hernandez was born to Manuel and Mildred (Rivera) Hernandez on November 10, 1945 in Lakewood, NM. He was raised and educated in Carlsbad.
Edward and Gloria (Aguirre) Hernandez were married in the early 1960’s in Artesia, NM and made their home in Big Spring, TX for several years before moving to Carlsbad, NM in 1984. He retired from the National Park Service after many years of service.
Eddie enjoyed gardening, fishing, professional wrestling, watching the Dallas Cowboys and was a member of San Jose Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria, parents and grandchildren, Sebastian Garcia and Chuntal Hernandez.
Edward is survived by his son Israel “Ray” and wife Debbie Hernandez and daughter Melissa and husband Frank Olivas, Jr., all of Carlsbad; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Nick Garcia, Travis Hernandez, Jacob Hernandez, Richard Hernandez, Jacob Mata and Frank Olivas.
