William G. "Bill" Robinson Jr., 95, of Lafayette passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at University Place in West Lafayette, IN after a brief illness.
He was born on Union Street in Lafayette on February 10, 1923 to the late William and Myrtle (Anthony) Robinson.
Bill married Berniece M. Ingram on August 21, 1943 at the Indiana State Soldiers Home in West Lafayette and they shared 70 plus happy years together before Berniece passed away on May 5, 2014.

Bill worked at the US Post Office from 1963 to 1985. He started out as a clerk and became a postman where he carried one of the largest routes on the south end of Lafayette Bill also worked at the downtown Lafayette Co-op from the late 1940's until 1963.

As a veteran of World War II, he served in Normandy on D-day with Army Corps of Engineers.

As a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church for 95 years, his faith was the basis of the decisions and advice he offered to his family and friends. Bill graduated from Lafayette Jeff High School in 1941 and was a life long member of the American Legion Post 11, 40 & 8, VFW and the USPS Retirement Club.

Bill was truly a man who could fix anything. He loved puzzles and figuring out problems. His garage was chock full of bits and pieces that you either thought was awful or wonderfully stocked. He enjoyed his Chicago Cubs and we were happy that he got to see them win the World Series. He loved mushroom hunting, fishing and cycling. Bill was a avid gardener and had a plot of land near his childhood home that provided his wife with baskets of food to preserve and feed their family well throughout the years.

Bill leaves behind his son, Bill (Carolanne) Robinson of Lafayette; his daughters, Sally (Rick) Heim of Brookston and Susan Robinson of Lafayette; 8 grandchildren, Debbie, Mark, Karla, Paul, Loren, Amy, Laura, and Katie; as well as 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his eldest daughter, Bonnie Robinson, his brother, Jack Robinson; and his sisters, Lavonne Sheets and Charlene Bouwkamp.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. A Mass christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Father Eric Underwood officiating. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the 40 and 8 Nurses Training Program Scholarshps or to Food Finders in loving memory of Bill. Envelops will be provided.
