Ann Hoagland Collins, age 73, after a long illness passed away peacefully at Norton Pavilion Hospital’s hospice wing, in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 30, 2018. She was a creative, vibrant and hilarious woman. She loved her family and friends, and she loved to nurture her beautiful gardens. She was an amazing cook, who introduced her children to the love of all things musical, educational, diverse, and artistic. Ann retired after many years as an archival printer at the University of Louisville, where she was a talented photographer, specializing in black and white film and photojournalism. In 2008, she made a pilgrimage to Tibet, India, and Nepal with her daughter. She described it as a pivotal time in her life. A long-time practitioner of Buddhism, Ann spent her life supporting the plight of the Tibetan people. She was born in Tecumseh, Michigan, on June 19, 1945, and spent her growing-up years in Adrian, Michigan, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Greensburg, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by: her mother, Sarah Hudson Collins,; her father, Lester Able Collins; beloved aunt, Rose Eleanor (Peggy) Wray; and grandson, Jude Hayes Miller. Ann is survived by: her daughter, Kelly Rose; her son, Mac Miller (Marie;, her chosen son, Jason Wommack (Shannon); her chosen daughter, Tabitha (Randy); her sisters, Jane Rose (Danny), Jo Miller and Rennie Mann (John); her brother, Rip Collins (Susan); the precious loves of her life, her grandchildren, Carmen Rose, Makenzie Rose, Leila Miller, Josie Miller and Natalie Rhema; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins; her dear friends, Kathleen, Diane Boone (Bill), Carol Anderson (Andy); and many other lifelong friends.

Ann was a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous, having just celebrated her 36th year. The family would like to express gratitude to Hospice of Louisville/ Renee, Trish, Jeff and John. The family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to: the Buddhist Center Drepung Gomang Institute, 411 North Hubbards Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40207; and to Hildegard House 1802, 114 Adams Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40206. Ann’s celebration of life will be held at the Buddhist Center on a date to be announced.
