He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. Mr. Brantley was wounded the day before the war ended. He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was member of Brantleys Chapel Primitive Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the American Legion and the A.A.R.P.
Survivors include: Wife, Vina Mae Brantley; Sons and Daughters-in-law, D.C. and Carol Brantley and Jack and Suzette Brantley all of Maryville; Daughter and Son-in-law, Charlotte and Ralph Willocks of Chattanooga, TN; Eight Grandchildren; Six Great-Grandchildren; Brother and Sister-in-law, Everett and Mildred Brantley of Maryville; Sisters, Norma Jean Bush of Oak Ridge, TN and Juanita Brantley of IN.
Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Saturday, January 25, 2003 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Jerry McBee and Rev. D.C. Brantley officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 26, 2003 at Brantleys Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lawrence Adams officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Saturday, January 25, 2003, West Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville.
