Martha Elizabeth McCoy, 99, of Lyburn, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 14, 2018, leaving from Pikeville Medical Center at Pikeville, KY, after a long illness.

She was born February 17, 1919, in Johnson County, KY, a daughter of the late Will and Bertha Spradling Gillispie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde McCoy; one daughter, Virginia Sue McCoy McNeely; two sons, Dewey Franklin McCoy and Alvin McCoy; six sisters, Bertha Mills, Bess Rogers, Ruth Rogers, Grace Gillispie, Oshie Hall, and Fannie Johnson; five brothers, Jesse “Jake” Gillispie, Sam Gillispie, Harvie “Bear Track” Gillispie, Byrd Gillispie and Lester Gillispie; and three grandchildren, Theresa Grimmett, Wanda McCoy, and Randall McCoy.

Elizabeth was home maker who took great joy in guiding her family. She was a Christian who loved the Lord with all of her heart, mind, and soul. Liz was a member of the Church of God in Christ Jesus at Trace Fork where she attended quite often until her illness. Now she is where she longed to be in Heaven with Jesus and those that have gone before.

Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Workman of Omar, Alice Marie Shawver, and Carol Burton, both of Whitman; five sons, Richard McCoy of Lyburn, David (Dianne) McCoy, and Paul (Linda) McCoy, all of Holden, Ricky Lee McCoy and Danny Ray McCoy, both of Lyburn; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Daniel Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home also.

Pall bearers will be family members.
