Born December 11, 1941 in Luverne, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Edward Hamann and Frances Shannon Hamann.
Known for his distinguished radio voice, Duane started his 50 plus year radio career at KIWA in Sheldon, Iowa. He worked at various other stations before coming to Pine Bluff’s KOTN radio where, “Hamann Here” became a familiar calling card to many. Duane never really retired and was still working from home for KQEW-Fordyce at the time of his death.
A Godly man, he was extremely civic minded and was always ready to be a service to others.
In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by a sister, Mary DeKoekoek; and a step-son, William Clay.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Edith Smith Hamann; daughters, Carla Bush (David) and Heather Edwards (Rick); step-daughters, Brenda Doeksen (Bill) and Sherri Rieff (James); a sister, Flora Lee Reeves; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
