JV Sandoval of 1534 Fourth avenue in Monte Vista passed away Friday morning at 724 Graphite St. the home of his daughter, Mrs Floripa Archuletta in Florence, Colorado 81226. He had been ill for the past six months and had been cared for by his daughter since April.
Funeral services were conducted in Monte Vista, Colorado at the Woods Memorial Chapel Monday Aug 4,1952 in the afternoon with the Rev. Fred Vargas officiating. Prayer services were held Sunday evening Aug 3,1952 in the Chapel. During the service, Mrs. Betty Gonzales sang a duet vocal number, followed by a solo by Mrs. Fred Vargas. Mrs. Edward Sharp was organist.
Mr. Sandoval was born July 13, 1868 in El Pariirito, N.M. and was a retired farm laborer. His wife preceded him in death in 1921.
Survivors include seven daughters. Mrs. Floripa Archuletta of Florence, Mrs. Maria Nicolasa of Salida, Mrs. Victoria Velasquez of Alamosa, Mrs, Sofia Garcia of La Jara, Mrs. Eva Roybal of Monte Vista, Mrs. Isaibel Martinez of Del Norte and Mrs. Jovita Jaquez of Florence: also by three sons. Tomas of Monte Vista, Salomon of Monte Vista, and Zacarias of Salida.

I remember attending the funeral in 1952. It was called the old Spanish Cemetery and it was a few miles west of Monte Vista, Colorado on Highway 160 South side of Highway.
