She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Saturday, June 6, 1942, to Gerald and Marjorie (Jeffrey)Mahoney. On June 25, 1961, she married Jerry Long and he survives.
A lifelong devoted resident of Gas City. Carolyn graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1960 and was a member of First Church of God and the Gas City Historical Society. She was the neighborhood mom and nurse; if anyone got hurt, she fixed them up. She loved to ride the John Deere and mow the lawn.
She invented auto detailing; no one could detail a car like she could. Kids and laughter were her favorite things. She love "I Love Lucy". She was "Meme" and she absolutely loved spoiling her grandkids.
She met Jerry at the semi-final sectional at Marion in 1960. Jerry and two of his friends were walking around the square and Carolyn and two of her friends were driving around the square and one of her friends hollered at a friend with Jerry. They met, had their first date 3 weeks later, and have been together ever since.
Survivors include her son, Bradley(Jennifer)Long of Saint Augustine, FL.; granddaughters, Amanda(Ryan)Lawrence, Luci Long, Olivia Long; grandson, Cameron (fiance, Brittany O'Neal)Long; and great-granddaughters, Hayley and Lyla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Marjorie Mahoney; son, Jeffrey Long; and sister, Linda Sue Mahoney.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Autumn Ridge and Heart to Heart Hospice for their incredible care and support throughout her time there. It meant the world knowing she was in such good care.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2922, at Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the funeral home with burial following at Riverside Cemetery.
