Jon Gregory Hale, 61, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm, at the chapel of Manchester First Baptist Church with Dr Craig Williamson officiating. A Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Greg was born February 7, 1957 in Manchester, the son of G.C. Hale, Jr. and Zona Griffin Hale. He was a 1975 graduate of Manchester High school and attended Georgia Southwestern College for two years. His education was interrupted by the sudden death of his father and the need to return home to join his brother Chris in the operation of the family business, Hale’s Construction. Greg would later enter the real estate industry as a commercial real estate broker. At one time, he was an associate broker with The Woodruff Company and in the latter years of his career, he owned his own brokerage, H&S Realty until his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors; time on the Flint, hunting with his two sons and was an avid runner. Also, he enjoyed sports and supported UGA football. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.C. Hale, Jr. and Zona Hale Williams, his son, Griffin Hale and his brother, Chris Hale.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Bryant Hale of Columbus; his son, Jon G. Hale and his wife, Carrie of Woodland; his daughter, Abbie Parker and her husband, Brook of Jackson, WY; his granddaughter, Ella Pope Hale; two sisters, Jona (Dal) Gibson and Jayna (Kearney) Glenn, all of Woodland; two step-children, Ric and Jena Bishop, whom he became very close these last few years.
