Peggy Sue McKinnon Mitchell ascending to her rest from her earthly labors on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at her home in North Little Rock, Arkansas

She had lived in North Little Rock most of her life. Peggy was born on December 9, 1933 in Delight, Arkansas to Hugh and Nannie McKinnon. She lived in Delight until graduation from high school then moved to Little Rock to further her education.

She was married to the late W.A. (Dub) Mitchell on April 27, 1956 and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage until his death in August 2010.

They were the parents of three children: Donna Gayle Mitchell Beaver, Brooks Allen Mitchell, and Patti Lynn Mitchell Powell.

She was preceded by her husband; her parents; a brother, Leon McKinnon; a son Brooks Allen Mitchell and son-in-law, Bill Powell.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Donna and her husband, Charles Beaver of Sherwood; daughter, Patti Lynn Mitchell Powell of Jacksonville; daughter-in-law, Robin Mitchell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Cory Hunt, Brittney Hunt, Brandon Hunt, Kinnon Mitchell and wife, Heather, Jonica Mitchell and Julie Mitchell; one step-granddaughter, Ronda Schrekenhofer; two great-grandchildren, Kimber and Kylee Mitchell and two step-great-grandchildren, Taylor and Trenton Schrekenhofer. She also leaves a host of extended family and friends.

Peggy was a long time member of the Levy Church of Christ where she served as a teacher in the primary department and was a department leader over grades 1-3 for many years. She was selected as “Teacher of the year” in 1992 and 1997. She was a great singer and assisted in the singing at many funeral services at Levy until she could not do so any longer.

She will certainly be missed by her family, much loved church family and friends. The family wishes to express our heart-felt gratitude to her care givers and to hospice for their service during Peggy’s long illness.

Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17th at Levy Church of Christ.
