Born in Huntsville, Ala., Joel moved to Maryville with his mother and sister in 1970, where he attended Sam Houston Elementary, Maryville Junior High, and Maryville High School, graduating in 1978. He received a BFA from Ringling School of Art and Design, in Sarasota, Fla., in 1982, after which he pursued a career in commercial art, holding designer, senior manager, and design director positions for such companies as Hallmark Cards, the Disney Store, the Walt Disney Company, and MGA Entertainment.
He leaves behind his wife, Elisabeth Reichmann Andrews; daughter, Rachel, 25; son, Julian, 23; and sister, Jenny Andrews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth McMurry Andrews in 2012, and father Philip Andrews in 2007.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2:00 p.m. PST, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Westlake Village, CA.
