Edward J. “Buster”, of Almonesson, NJ died on February 19, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of 60 years to Anna H. Haas (nee Jaggard). Devoted father of: Linda A. Iacovone (Carmen W.) of Williamstown, NJ, Edward F. Haas (Lynn) of Batesville, AR, Richard J. Haas (Donna) of Southampton, NJ, James E. Haas (Barbara J.) of Williamstown, NJ, and Thomas C. Haas (Alice) of Erial, NJ. Mr. Haas is also survived by: one brother, Charles T. Haas (Pearl) of Falling Waters, WV, one sister, Marie Wilson of Gibbstown, NJ, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and his lifelong friends John and Fred Selby.
Mr. Haas was a U.S.M.C. WWII Veteran, and a retired Supervisor of Shops from NJ Transit where he worked for 42 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 424, Deptford, NJ, Past Commander of Gloucester County American Legion (1959-1960), and he served as the Gloucester County American Legion D.E.C. from 1974-1986. He was also a 20-year member of the Bonsal Blues Band color guard, and a 40-year member of Voiture # 507 of Gloucester County. Buster made many children’s charity groups a priority during his career. Over a 35-year period he raised more than $400,000 to benefit numerous children’s charities.
Viewing will be Thursday eve. 6:00 – 9:00 PM, and Friday 8:30 – 9:30 AM, at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012. Funeral Mass will follow Friday 10:00 AM, at St. John Vianney R.C. Church, 2901 Good Intent Rd. Deptford, NJ 08096. Interment will take place at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
