Arnold “Arnie” Anderson (93) of Arkansaw, WI, died Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.
He was born May 16, 1925 in Porcupine-Arkansaw, WI; son of John and Lucinda (Claflin) Anderson. As a young man he joined the United States Army and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Upon his arrival home he settled with his wife Ilene in Arkansaw, WI, where they raised their five children. Arnold was known to many as a hard worker which led him to farming, logging, and owning his own sawmill throughout his working career. In his free time he pursued his passion for music, playing the banjo and harmonica, at numerous events and gigs over the course of 80 years. When off the stage Arnold would often be found on a Sunday afternoon pulling a wagon or sleigh with his beloved teams of horses.
He is survived by his special friend LuAnn (Hoyt) Wood; children, Trudy Waatti of Eau Claire, Randy (Karen) Anderson of English, IN, Dean “Chappie” Anderson of Arkansaw, WI, Perry “Pete” (Connie) Anderson of Arkansaw, WI; siblings, Leonard Livingston, Arlene Richardson, Bev Losinski; 16 grandchidren; many great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ilene; son, Gerald “Bub” Anderson, parents, John and Cindy; brother, Donald; son in law Russell Waatti; and many beloved friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Community of Christ Church in Arkansaw with Pastor Dan Richardson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
