Dennis A. Meinheit, 53, of Cordova died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be in Cordova Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.

Dennis Allen Meinheit was born May 25, 1955, in Belvidere, Ill., the son of Robert and Mae Bell Meinheit. He married Linda Oleson on Dec. 19, 1992, in Port Byron. Dennis retired from John Deere Harvester in 2008 after 32 years of service. He enjoyed doing photography, especially for weddings, building his home in Cordova and collecting John Deere tractors.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Amy (Bobby) Chamberlin, Forreston, Ill.; sons, Jason Meinheit, Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Nicholas Meinheit, Forreston, a stepdaughter, Brandy (Jason) Downey, Hillsdale, stepson, Barry Oleson, Leaf River, Ill.; five grandchildren; sisters, Deb (David) Osbaugh, Pecatonica, Ill., Donna (Brian) Ostrihonsky, Adeline, Ill., Dorothy Wiegman, Freeport and Brenda (Dave) Shelton, Cedarville, Ill.; a brother, Dean (Sharon) Schroder, Oregon, Ill.; and a special friend, Mike Gaston, Forreston. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bob Meinheit.
