Charles J. Batchelor, 78, loving husband of JoAnn (Lanese) Batchelor for 53 years, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018.

He was born in New York, the son of the late Charles L. and Margaret (Flannery) Batchelor. A native New Yorker, Charlie resided in Somers for 50 years. He was an avid reader, enjoyed UConn women's basketball, and following the stock market. Charlie owned a large equipment company (CAM Equipment) in South Windsor. His greatest joy in life came from the time spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, JoAnn, Charlie is survived by two children, Chuck Batchelor and his wife, Christie, of Cranston, Rhode Island, and Brice Batchelor Hall and her husband, Jim Hall, of Princeton, New Jersey; a brother, Kenneth Batchelor and his wife, Charlene, of South Salem, New York; and two wonderful grandchildren, Jake and Kyra Hall.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers.

A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at All Saints Church, 25 School St., Somersville. A procession will gather at the funeral home at 9 am. Burial will follow at Somers Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of the Somers Library, 2 Vision Blvd., Somers, CT 06071, Attn: Karen Hocking.
