Bernice Peay Watts, 51, Orem, wife of Verdum A. Watts, died at the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City early Saturday morning of a short illness.
She was born September 27, 1918 in Provo, a daughter of Parley and Emma Poulson Peay. She married Verdun A. Watts on March 19, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mrs. Watts was active in the LDS Church, a member of the Orem 19th Ward at the time of her death. She had been active in the Relief Society and had taught in all of the auxiliary organizations at one time or another.
She had attended Provo schools graduating from Provo High School in 1936. She had also attended the Brigham Young University. Mrs. Watts had served many times with Orem PTA organization and had also worked as pink lady at the Utah Valley Hospital.
Surviving are her husband of Orem; two sons and three daughters, Verdun A. Watts Jr., Sunnyvale, California; James D. Watts, Orem; Mrs. Larry Don (Carolyn) Sargent, Cupertino, California; Mrs. Frank (Edyth Ann) Meredith, San Francisco, California; and Connie Beth Watts, Orem; six grandchildren, and one brother and one sisters, Gerald Peay, Edmonds, Washington, and Mrs. Lloyd (Maurine) Aston, Provo.
Funeral services were Wednesday at the Orem 19th Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Orem City Cemetery.
