John Wiggins was born in Jamaica, NY , his Wiggins family had lived there since 1649. He was the son of Benjamin Wiggins II and Rachael, surname unknown, who moved from Jamaica, NY by 1760 and in 1765 receiving a land grand in Newburgh, then Ulster Co., from the Indians,

John was the grandson of Benjamin Wiggins I and Elizabeth Carpenter of Jamaica, NY,
ggson of Thomas Wiggins and Johanna, surname unknown, may be daughter of Thomas RIDER/RYDER. of Jamaica, NY according to 1886 letter found online by of Alexander C. Wiggins of Wisconsin, 2xgson of Ben/Rachel's' son Jacob (son Wm).

John lived and married Polly NICHOLS in Newburgh until about 1790. his son, Jacob, Civil War pension application lists that Jacob was living with his family in Newburgh when drafted 1777 and serving until 1779 when he moved 100 miles north to Stillwater, Saratoga Co., NY. He is not on 1779 tax list for Saratoga Co.,
1790 & 1800 Stillwater, NY was Postmaster there in 1796 (according to Sylvester's Hist. of Saratoga Co.).
1801-1810 census he moved first to Westernville then to Rome, Oneida Co, NY, where sons, Jacob, moved in 1795 (according to Jacob's 1832 military pension app) and Anning moved. Will, attached, states he died in Rome, burial site must be with other family in Wright Settlement Cem. or Rome Cemetery.

Their 10 children, born over the span of 24 years 1760-1784, were born in Orange/Ulster Co, NY, and moved to Westernville/Rome, Oneida Co, as did they, except son George who stayed in Malta, NY:
