Joy Butler, 75, of Anderson, passed away after an extended illness on October 9, 2018. She was born to Mary and John Horner on May 25, 1943, in Alexandria, and was raised in her early years in Summitville until the family moved to Anderson.
Joy graduated from Anderson High School in 1961.
She married the love of her life, David Butler, in 1966, and they were together until his untimely death in 1983.
Joy worked at St. John's Hospital as a purchasing agent and then worked at the Anderson Housing Authority for 29 years until her retirement as a compliance officer. She also was a licensed real estate broker.
Joy loved traveling especially to New Orleans with her beloved husband and Las Vegas with her sisters and niece. She loved to cook and catered gourmet parties for business associates, friends, and family.
Joy is survived by her loving sisters, Pamela (Steve) Servies and Johnna Horner; niece, Shelley (Brian) Krebs; nephew, Steven (Melissa) Denny; and her great-nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, Paige Laughlin, Zachary Krebs, Claire Denny, Sam Denny, Addison Farrer, and Zachary Farrer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary, and John Horner; husband, David Butler; and in-laws, Dorothy and Kenneth Butler, and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 12, 2018, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson, IN.
Services will follow visitation at 2:30 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Klinger officiating.
Cremation will take place with burial at Anderson Memorial park at a later date.
