Philip Gerard Waters, age 64 of York, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 at York.
He was born May 30, 1954 at Chicago, Ill. to James Michael and Elizabeth (Cantwell) Waters and graduated from high school in Cheyenne, Wyo. in 1972.
On June 6, 1981 Philip was married to Mary A. Boyer of York. He was a longtime grocer working for Grand Central Super Value in York and then onto Super Saver Stores in Lincoln. He was an avid Husker fan, enjoyed walking and playing card games, especially family games of 7 point pitch. He thoroughly loved being with his family, especially his grandson Francisco, and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Boyer of York; sons, Robert (Alejandra) Waters of Miami, Fla. and Matthew Waters and his fiancé Mahtab Tehrani of Stow, Ohio and grandson Francisco Waters of Miami, Fla.
Also surviving is his sister, Helen (Tim) Barbie of Arvada, Colo.; cousin, Tom Waters of Kansas City, Kan.; brothers-in-law, John (Lora) Boyer of York and Tom (Margaret) Boyer of Spalding; sister-in-law, Marti (Larry) Fuller of Palisades, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at the Bradshaw United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michelle Reed officiating. Interment to follow in the Plainfield Cemetery near Bradshaw. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m., Thursday and then all day Friday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. with his family greeting friends from 6 - 8 p.m. that same evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be sent to his family for later designation.
