Caroline Cooper, 94, a resident of Melrose Park for 63 years, passed away Monday 17 September 2018. Born in Ludwigshafen, Germany January 14, 1924, she came to this country with her parents, Henry and Karolina (Schug) Keller in 1924, passing through Ellis Island. They settled in Charleroi, PA, where she grew up. She came to Chicago as a young woman to work, and met and married Bertis W. Cooper in 1948. Caroline worked at Jewel Tea Co., Gulbransen Piano Co., and retired from ITT Continental Baking Co. Caroline enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, canning, cooking, baking, making jewelry, picking fruit and cleaning beans. She was the dear mother of Diana Lynn (Donald) Gregory, of Huntley; loving grandmother of Donald III (Jessica) Gregory of Crystal Lake, Daniel (Jodi) Gregory of Lake in the Hills, David (Kristen) Gregory of Woodstock, and adoring great grandmother of 8: Isabelle, Donald Joshua, Olivia, Ryker, Scarlett, Jett, Daniel Jr. and Evangeline Gregory. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bertis, and brothers Fritz of Eunice, LA, Henry of Washington, PA, and Lawrence Keller of Wauconda. Sisters Anna Snyder of Freemont, OH, Mildred Schutz of Kenosha, WI, and Rose Himley of Park Ridge.
