Dan was born in Memphis, Tennessee and brought home to 3295 Woodhaven, a house his father built. After Kindergarten, at the Raleigh Presbyterian Church, he attended Coleman Elementary School then graduated from Raleigh Egypt High School in 1978. He next enrolled at Southwest Tennessee Community College and began his working career with his father in their wood working shop. Then worked at Wolf Camera and at a Tunica Casino. He last worked for Historic Images.
Dan loved to travel and would visit Panama City Beach, New Orleans or any town in Texas. He liked photography and took photo's in these cities. He once drove up to Canada just to see it.
Dan passed away at his home in Memphis before being taken to Methodist North.

He selflessly gave much of his time to care for his ailing mother, foregoing the typical time spent with friends. His steadfast care of his mother allowed her to be more comfortable and to be able to stay home with family. After the passing of his mother, Dan moved to Bartlett.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as his love for his cats and would feed any cat that showed up. He loved to eat but not at the traditional times. Breakfast at 8am but lunch at 2 and dinner at 8. Dan never met a stranger; he was a good friend and loved others unconditionally. His proudest moments hinged, not on his own endeavors, but on his family's happiness, watching them succeed in life and spending time especially on holidays. He often referred to his mother as the magician at Christmas because she made it seem so magical.

Dan would want to be remembered as being independent and loved for who he was. Anyone who knew Dan has a funny story, or a dozen, they could tell about him. His quirky, corny jokes were so abundant that we all loved to retell them at anytime. The joy and unconditional love he brought his family were endless. For that, he will not be forgotten.

He leaves behind two siblings and a host of nieces and nephews.
