Sharon Powers went to be with her Lord on Mon., Oct. 25, 2010, after a three-month battle with cancer, in which she never lost her courage and compassion. Sharon was born Feb. 22, 1954, in Fontainebleau, France, the the delight of her parents, Roger and Elsie Janson. She grew up in Rockford, IL, where she met her husband, Michael, and they married in 1981. She graduated from Rockford East High School, NIU in DeKalb, IL and completed her master's degree at UNLV. She was a special-education teacher in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas for 28 years. Sharon loved the desert, mountains, hiking, camping, fishing, bird watching and traveling throughout the West. She was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church, active in Women's ministries and teaching Sunday school.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Mike; sons, Paul, Christopher and David; mother, Elsie Janson; brother, Jeff (Robin) Janson. Predeceased by her father, Roger Janson in 2004.
