Joyce Midgett Etheridge, 77, of Manteo, NC died Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Etheridge was born in Glynn County, Georgia to the late Annabelle McDonald and Seldon Midgett.
She served as the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Pre-School assistant for many years. Her true calling, for over twenty-five years, was hostessing at RV’s Restaurant; now Sugar Creek Restaurant in Nags Head. Joyce was a member of the Nannie Midgett Circle, the Roanoke Island Woman’s Club and the Sunday night Pizza Hut Club.
Mrs. Etheridge is survived by two daughters, Christine Walker and husband, Tucker Walker of Manteo and Amy Crawford and husband, Gerald Crawford of Manteo; three grandchildren, Alex Etheridge, Annabelle Walker and Gabe Walker; several nieces and nephews, and bonus daughters, Christine Jones of California and Carrie Vrablic of Wanchese. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward Etheridge; brother, Ray Midgett; and nephew, Steve Midgett.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Twiford Funeral Home in Manteo from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jerry Cribb and Rev. Matt Seals officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Private burial will take place at Manteo Cemetery.
