Obituary for Mrs. Laura M. Lucas
Laura M. Lucas, 94, of Brown County, died at 5:03 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Lucas was a member of Green Valley Apostolic Church. She was a steam press operator at Roviar Shirt Factory where she had served for 19 years.
Laura was an outdoor enthusiast, she enjoyed bird watching, flower gardening, singing and outdoor activities.

Laura was born February 3, 1924 in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Rease and Mary Ann Ferguson Gatewood.
She married Woodrow Lucas on October 9, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1992.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Pastor Paul Hardin officiating.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Reeves-Lucas Cemetery in Brown County.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Survivors include her children, Delbert (Sharon) Lucas of Nashville, Alfreda B. White of North Vernon, Bernice Walker of Nineveh, Rose M. (Fred) Fulbright of Springfield, Missouri and Veronica L. Mace of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Woodrow Lucas Jr. and Robert W. Lucas; brother, Tom Gatewood; sisters, Sarah Fluharty, Nellie Bassett, Madiline Lucas, Mary A. Gatewood, Opal Adams; sons-in-law, Merrill Walker and Ray Piper.
