LINN/DELMITA - Hortencia Hinojosa, 90, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 09, 2011 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. She was born on September 18, 1920 in Delmita, Texas to Blas Requenez and Refugia Aguirre Requenez.

She is survived by her son; Nicasio Hinojosa Jr., grandchildren; David Carlos Hinojosa, Omar Hinojosa, Ricardo Hinojosa, and Eduardo Lino Hinojosa, ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hortencia is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Nicasio Hinojosa Sr., son; David Carlos Hinojosa, brothers; Santos Requenez, Gustavo Requenez, Raul Requenez, Pedro Requenez, and Haroldo Requenez, and sisters; Eliza Casarez, Beatriz Longoria, and Maria Elena Pena.

The Requenez Family was a pioneer family from the Spanish-Mexican Land Grant which began in 1967. After her husband's death in 1953, she began working on the farm to provide for her children. She also sold Avon, plants and flowers from her own nursery; she worked hard to provide for her two sons who she loved dearly. She was an inspiration to her sons and will truly be missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

The Family will receive friends today, February 13, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Christian services will be held Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hinojosa Cemetery in Linn, Texas. Having the honor of serving as pallbearers will be Trent Hinojosa, Austin Hinojosa, Pedro Requenez Jr., Margarito Requenez, Alfonso Hernandez, and Eduardo Lino Hinojosa. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
