Duane Schmitt, 64, of Johnsburg IL passed away suddenly on Monday, October 8th, 2018. Duane was born July 13th, 1954 in Waukegan, IL. He was the second oldest of his 7 siblings.
Duane loved his family most, spending much time together on the family farm. The people who know him best will always remember his endless smile and charismatic laugh. He prided himself on faith, family, community and strong work ethics. He was a devoted employee of 40 years for Vulcan Materials and Payne and Dolan before retiring September 2016.
Duane is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary; along with three sons Todd (Anna) Schmitt, Adam Schmitt and Kevin Schmitt; dearest grandson Zachery Schmitt. Duane is also survived by his mother Margaret Schmitt; brothers Larry (Ann) Schmitt, Loren (Colleen) Schmitt; sisters Janice (Roy) Piatt, Barb (Rick) Mack and Patti Schmitt; and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives. He was proceeded in death by his father, Stanley Schmitt in 2011 and his sister Mary in 1959.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, October 11th 2018. Funeral Services will be at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg, IL on Friday, October 12th at 11:00 AM. A short viewing will take place at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM before the funeral mass. Duane will be laid to rest at the St. John's cemetery.
