Charles Vincent Sterling 71, of Paris, died, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 31, 2018 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Burrow officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Charles was born October 29, 1946 in Dallas to Rupert Vincent and Johnnie Pearl Demorast Sterling. He graduated from Odessa High School and attended Odessa Junior College and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Mr. Sterling served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Air Force. He married Joyce Elaine Shellaby on August 31, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Elaine Sterling; seven children, Charles Sterling, Jr., David Sterling, Clay Sterling, Ray Sterling, William Van Riper and wife, Tammy, Rossie Fox, and Judy Blalack and husband, Rusty; a son-in-law, Willie Heath; five grandchildren, Zackie T. Reed V, Ericha Farris, Kari Blalack, Penny Blalack, and Michelle Barron; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, William “Bill” Sterling. He was preceded in death by two children, Jinna Brock Heath and Dennis Hamilton Sterling; his parents; and his sister, Mary Helen Jacobs.
Asked to serve as pallbearers are William Van Riper, Zackie Reed, Keith Sterling, Robert Sterling, Will Farris, David Sterling, and Grady Busy.
