Amos V. Ponder
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 15th, at 3:30 p.m., for Mr. Amos V. Ponder, 55, at the Dunn Church of God.
Officiating were Rev. O. L. Gates and Rev. C. C. Floyd. The music was under the direction of Mrs. A. E. Anderson.
Mr. Ponder was born August 1st, 1891. He served several years in World War I. He was noted for his kindness and his spreading of good cheer. He left many, many close friends.
The body was laid to rest in the Dunn Baptist cemetery.
Pallbearers were Homer McManus, J. R. Branch, Fred McManus, A. E. Anderson, Acie Rums and Ernest McManus.
Mr. Ponder is survived by his wife, Mrs. Viola Ponder, a son, Thomas V. Ponder, a daughter, Mrs. Alice V. Hegge, and one grandchild, Rachel Faye Hegge, all of Holly Ridge; one brother, Joel Jones, in U. S. Marines somewhere overseas; and one aunt, Phil Sykes, of Crystal Springs, Miss.
