Coach Ronald Brock, age 78, of Vidalia, died Sunday, October 7, 2018, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a native of Coolidge, Georgia, and was a 1958 graduate of Coolidge High School. Soon after high school, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served four years. He attended Norman Park Community College, and transferred to Georgia Southern in Statesboro, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Coach Brock began his teaching career in 1969 at Bryan County High School, where he taught for seven years, and coached boys’ and girls’ basketball. He transferred to Montgomery County High School where he taught for twenty-eight. While at Montgomery County, he coached boys’ and girls’ basketball, track, and girls’ softball. After retirement, he drove a school bus for seven years for Vidalia City Schools. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pembroke, and was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Virginia Brock.

Coach Brock is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Elaine Brock of Vidalia; three children, Jeanna Lynn Brock Bass and husband of Jerry of Metter, Garrett Thomas Brock and wife Denise of Reidsville, and Edward Alan Brock and wife Becky of Baxley; one sister, Delores McCranie and husband Charles of Thomasville; one brother, Mike Brock and wife Rita of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Rod, Kayla, Brittany, Sara, Preston, Aiden, and Carter; two great-grandchildren, Evan and Blakely, and a great-granddaughter to be born in March, Lani; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 10th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Murray Teuton and Reverend George Hemmingway officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
