William proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at Dekalb and was a security guard at Yale Security. He was also employed at 4M Building Solutions and St. John’s. William enjoyed fishing and doing mechanical work on vehicles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Hamm of Springfield; two daughters, Shauna Graves of Mesa, AZ and Terra Schlicht-Gonzalez of Phoenix, AZ; two step-daughters, Tamora “Tammy” (husband, Paul) Harter of Springfield and Kayla (husband, Derrick) George of Bourbonnais, IL; grandchildren, Theressa, Derick, Owen, Paul Harter, Megan Harter, Brian Walbert, Marlene “Marley” Peck, Eli George, and Jewel; two siblings, Fredrick (wife, Becky) Hamm III of Tilden, IL and Ruth Pittser of Alma, AK; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society, Springfield, IL.
The family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sherman Church of the Nazarene, Sherman, with Pastor William Haworth, Jr. officiating.
