Johnny Sims, 70, of Mount Carmel, TN went to be with the Lord Monday, October 8, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born December 4, 1947, in Scott County, VA to the late John and Mary Strong Sims.

Johnny was a loving and kind Christian gentleman who was a hard worker. He was a retired self-employed carpenter following fifty years of service. He was known as a perfectionist to everyone in his industry.

He enjoyed family gatherings and was especially fond of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Buddy Sims and his sister, Virginia Barker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lee Ann Tipton Sims; children, Tim Sims (Sheri), Sabrina Brewer (Keith), Stephanie Miller (Travis) and Tim McCraw (Samantha); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Osborne (Bill), Marie Winkle, Pauline Mullins (Johnny), Janie Rogers (J.W.) and Kay Jackson (Rev. Nathan); brothers, Rev. Stanley Sims (Margaret), Billy Joe Sims and Darrell “Dobber” Sims (Dora); several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jim and Barbara Haun.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 10, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Fireside Room at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 2:00 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating.

A Graveside and Committal Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The care of Johnny Sims and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
