BENSON, Mark W. of Amesbury formerly of Groton and Randolph died September 30th, 2018 after a long battle with addiction at the age of 27. Beloved son of Tammy L. (Owens) Benson and her fiancé Amir Bourkiche of Randolph and Shawn D. Benson of Kingston, NH. Devoted father of Samantha Marie Benson of Amesbury. Dear grandson of Roberta E. Benson and John R. Friedrich of Amesbury and Loretta (Keough) Owens of Randolph. Beloved nephew of Kristine Donovan of Wareham, John Donovan of Taunton, Donald Owens and his wife Michelle of Kingston, Tasha Turner of Chelmsford, Alexis D. Benson and his wife Christine of Hampton Falls, NH, Erica Belanger and her husband Michael of Pepperell, Steven A. Friedrich and his wife Eloni of Everett, Jean Burbo and her husband Charlie of VT, and Beverly Purrington and her husband Richard White of CA. Also survived by Samantha Marie Benson’s mother, Dina Mantia and cousins, Ryan and Michael Donovan, Danielle, Emma and Timothy Owens and Corey Alexis Patterson and partner MacKenzie Soberg. Mark was born in Boston had lived in Randolph before moving to Groton and Amesbury. He was a graduate of Groton-Dunstable Reg. High School and attended Middlesex Community College. He was known as a very creative chef as well as gifted artist. While in school he played many sports, he loved the water and enjoyed the outdoors, camping, canoeing, and boating to name a few. Mark was a very spiritual person and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Friday evening from 3:00 to 7:00 PM immediately followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St., Randolph MA. Private committal services will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to provide scholarships for residents to, Riverbank House, 96 Church St., Laconia NH 03246.
