Robert "Bob" K. Delaney, 75, of Narragansett passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 peacefully surrounded by family and friends at South County Hospital.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Thomas and Mary (McGovern) Delaney, Bob grew up in Warwick but lived most of his life in Narragansett with his wife Deana and four children.

During his early life, Bob served in the US Army as Military Police for two years.

After a short stint with UPS, he found his career as an Area Sales Manager for General Electric where he "never worked a day in his life" for over 40 years. He covered all of Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island until he retired in late 2008.

Bob was a devoted father to his four children and was involved in the local community. In addition to coaching both his son's and daughter's little leagues teams, he was the former President of the Friendly Sons; a member of the Irish Organization in Providence; and played softball for both The Twin Willows and Casey's Grill and Bar for many years. His beloved family will always remember his witty sense of humor and enthusiasm for all Boston sports teams.

He is survived by his children, Robert K. Delaney, Jr. and his wife Aime of New Bedford, Sean Delaney of Narragansett, Meghan McCrea and her husband Chris of Raleigh, NC, and Danielle Delaney of Narragansett; siblings, Thomas Delaney, Jr. and his wife Carol Ann of Narragansett and FL, Maryellen McGovern and the late Joseph McGovern of Narragansett, Patryce "Pat" Murray and her husband Jim of Warwick and FL, and Kevin Delaney and his wife Leslie of South Kingstown; three grandchildren, Robert K. Delaney, III, Keating McCrea, and Jensen McCrea; many nieces and nephews and his former wife Deana (Adams) Malchow.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and entire staff at South County Hospital ICU and Frost 3 for their hard work, compassion, and dedication to excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 or www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Private services were held under the direction of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. For online tribute www.rock-funeralhome.com.
