Albert “Al” Archibald Walker, a resident of Dallas, Oregon died on Tuesday, October 2nd in Salem Hospital.

Al was born on Thursday, August 9, 1928 in Dallas, Oregon the son of Florence and Solomon Crowley Walker. He is a descendent of pioneer families who settled here before Oregon Statehood. As a boy he lived with his parents and brother in the Crowley house at Oak Grove.

At seven years of age, he lived with his Grandmother Crowley in Nelscott off and on for several years and attended grade school there. Living with her was one of the great influences of his life. He then moved with his parents and brother to Beaverton and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1947. Al attended Oregon State University. He was very athletic and ran the high hurdles and enjoyed boxing.

Al married Mary Ann Enberg on July 2, 1950 in the home of her parents in Nampa, Idaho. They lived in Hillsboro, Oregon on Farmington Road. While living in Hillsboro they welcomed the birth of their daughters Melissa and Kim. In 1956 they moved to Eugene, Oregon. Al worked for Ramsey-Waite Company in Eugene. He later worked for R.M. Wade & Co. (Wade Rain), as a Sales Manager of irrigation equipment in Beaverton. Al covered a territory of all states west of the Mississippi and British Columbia, Canada. He traveled hundreds of thousands of miles on his sales trips. He then went to work for Rain Bird Sprinkler Manufacturing Co., as District Sales Manager. After retiring from Rain Bird, he also worked at Gheen Irrigation in Eugene.

Al enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, camping trips with his family and a love of the Oregon Coast. Al’s interests included a love of vintage aircraft and Indian Motorcycles, building model airplanes and he enjoyed visiting various aircraft museums.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann on June 19, 2004. Al moved back to his birthplace of Dallas five months later. He enjoyed Dallas and was able to see family and friends in the area.

He is survived by his daughters, Melissa Speilberg and Kim Newell both of Eugene along with 5 grandchildren, April, Heather, Cody, Ashleigh and Erika along with 5 great grandchildren Reice, Ejaiya, Carlos, Dylan and Ashton.

Funeral Services will be on Sunday, October 14th at 1:00PM at Bollman Funeral Home, 694 Main Street in Dallas. Private interment will be in Etna Cemetery in Rickreall. Memorials may be made to the Polk County Museum in care of Bollman Funeral Home, who is caring for the family.
